Frequently Asked Questions

All You Need to Know

  • What days are you open?
Our office is open 7 days a week. We have late night hours until 9pm on Monday-Thursday and are open every Saturday and Sunday for sick visits.
  • Are you accepting new patients?
It is our pleasure to welcome new pediatric patients.
  • Do you accept my health insurance plan?
Advocare participates with most major insurance plans. If you are unsure if we participate in your plan we recommend you contact our office to further discuss your options.
  • How do we contact the doctor after hours?
One of our doctors is always available after routine patient hours to answer any urgent concerns you may have about your child. Until midnight each day, one of our pediatric triage nurses will assess your concerns as well as the severity of your child’s symptoms, and guide you to the appropriate level of care. Our triage nurses communicate closely with our doctor on-call. After midnight, one of our doctors will directly respond to your call. Please call back if you have not received a timely response.

IN THE EVENT OF A LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCY, CALL 911.
  • May I request a specific healthcare provider for my visit?
You may always make your child’s well-care and follow-up visits with the healthcare provider of your choice. When your child is ill, any of our healthcare providers will gladly see your child.
  • How often does my child need to be seen in the office?
In the first two years, routine health maintenance visits are frequent and follow the guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. After age three, patients are seen yearly for check-ups.
  • What immunizations will my child receive?
To help protect your child from many serious infectious diseases, we follow the immunization schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Please discuss your immunization questions and concerns with any of our healthcare providers.

  • I just gave birth. When will the doctor see my baby and when should I schedule the first office visit?
If your baby is delivered at Virtua Voorhees or Kennedy Hospital, one of our pediatricians will examine your baby each day until you and the baby are discharged. Once home from the hospital, we currently recommend seeing newborn infants in the office by one week of age. Please call the office at 856-863-9999 during or after your hospital stay to schedule your baby’s first appointment. To save time when checking in at the office, you may complete the initial registration forms on our forms page and bring them to the office at your baby’s first visit.
